What happened
The status service could not produce current state. This is a failure of the status system itself and says nothing about the services it reports on: it is returned instead of a generic error so that a status page renders 'status data unavailable' rather than the last state it happened to remember.

What to do
Retry shortly. Treat the result as unknown rather than operational; do not fall back to a cached state and present it as current.
